FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Thanks for calling to enquire about classes at Factory BJJ, sometimes it takes me a while to return calls because I’m teaching in the evening and at weekends and most people miss my calls when I call them back in the day.

So to speed up the process of getting you or your child on the mat doing some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, below is a quick FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to answer all of the most common questions I get asked.

Q. I’m an adult who wants to start BJJ, how do I go about it?

A. You will need to do our 5 Intro Classes first, they are on Tuesday at 615pm and Saturday at 11.15am. You can just turn up on the day, be fitted for a gi/uniform and train straight away. You can book an intro appointment to see us first but there is no need to book one you can just show up to train if you’d prefer. For more info on this click here.

Q. Do I need a gi to train?

A. Yes, the gi is an integral part of BJJ and we use it for chokes, throws, pins and almost everything else. Imagine going bike riding without a bike, you need a gi to train BJJ and our intro packs start as low as £39.99 and they include the first 5 intro classes. For more info on this click here.

Q. I can’t make the intro class on Saturday/Tuesday or I can’t make either class, what can I do?

A. If you can make either the Tuesday or the Saturday that is fine you can work through the 5 topics as and when you come in. If you can’t make either of the intro classes you can work with me (Black Belt coach – Adam Adshead) on a 1-2-1 basis. I can cover all 5 topics in 3 x 1 hour private sessions at the price of £35 per session.

Q. Can I come and watch a class / visit the gym?

A. Of course! We are only open when the classes are on, so check our timetable first and then drop in whenever you like.

Q. My Child is between the ages of 2-5 years, what class can they do?

A. Bring them along to the Parent & Me Class every Saturday at 9am. You will join in too in a 30 minute session of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu games, drills and techniques. There is no need to book, just wear loose fitting clothing and just show up! Your first session is free – after that it’s £5 per session. For more info click here.

Q. My Child is between the ages of 6-10 years, what class can they do?

A. Bring them along to the Kids Class every Saturday at 945am or Wednesday at 5.15pm. There is no need to book, just make sure they have loose fitting clothing on and just show up! Their first session is free – after that it’s £6 per session or £20 a month for one class a week. For more info click here.

Q. My Child is between the ages of 11-15 years, what class can they do?

A. Bring them along to the Kids Class every Saturday at 10.30am. There is no need to book, just make sure they have loose fitting clothing on and just show up! Their first session is free – after that it’s £6 per session or £20 a month for one class a week. For more info click here.

Q. I train at another club but would like to visit – is that ok?

A. Of course! The only class you would need to ask me about is the Comp Class on Monday but besides that just show up. For more info click here.
