We are moving our conditioning class into his facility as of June 1st. The class will run every Wednesday from 7.30pm and everyone is welcome!

Saturday 19th of March from 10 – 11am.

We’re limiting the class to 20 children and once we have that number we won’t be accepting any new students. To book your child/children a spot in the class you need to bring them down to the gym to be measured up for a gi.

In terms of kit we have created a training pack which includes all the necessary items they will need, plus includes the fees for your child’s first month of training.

We don’t charge a membership fee, a sign-up fee or annual club fee, all you need to do is buy the pack which will equip your child with everything they need to train.

So the package is as follows:

Boys package is £60 and includes 1 x Blitz Gi (value £25) /  1 x Opro Junior gumshield  (value £10) / 1 x Blitz junior groin guard (value £8) / plus your child’s first four sessions in advance (£20).

Girls package is £53 and includes 1 x Blitz Gi (value £25) /  1 x Opro Junior gumshield  (value £10) /  plus your child’s first four sessions in advance (£20).

(All major credit and debit cards accepted)

After your child’s first month of training all you will need to pay for is the sessions which are priced at £5 each and bought in blocks of four. These will be ticked off as each session is attended.

**Discounts are available for additional family members. After your child’s first four sessions, additional blocks of four sessions will be priced at £16 (£4 per session) for a second child and £14 (£3.50) for a third child.**

As for an introduction to our coaches, let me introduce myself first – My name is Adam Adshead and run and own Factory BJJ, which was set-up in 2008. Prior to that I trained and coached at Revolution in Stockport from 2004.

I am now a full-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach, but prior to going full-time one of my jobs was that of a brain injury support worker. I worked 1-2-1 with various people, including children, helping them with everyday tasks in school and in the community. I worked for JSP Manchester for almost 3 years doing such work and in such time went on and passed a number of courses including child protection, young adult protection and first aid courses.

My assistant coach in all of the classes is Leroy Holcroft. Leroy has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2007. He is a primary school teacher and has taught all ages at primary level since becoming a teacher four years ago.

We’re both really looking forward to seeing the kids class grow and it’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone who attends. The kids are going to love all aspects of training and as with the adult classes it’s always amazing to see their confidence, fitness, positive attitude and enjoyment levels grow week by week.

We’re still only January but 2011 has already been a productive year for Factory BJJ / Combat Base Stockport.

As previously reported Mat Leigh is now running a BJJ Conditioning class for us on a Wednesday night from 8.30 – 10pm, and I’m now pleased to announce another new addition to the timetable.

Factory BJJ now has a Judo for BJJ class, which is run by Judo Black Belt Mel Vosoughi (pictured above).

For those who don’t know, Mel is a very experienced Judoka who has practiced judo for over 20 years.

He was awarded his Black Belt 1st dan by Nori Bunasawa (8th dan) in 1993 and his 2nd dan in 1995, in California.

He was also assistant instructor to Nori Bunasawa for 7 years, before he moved to the UK from the USA in 2003.

Mel currently trains Judo under Steve Pullen (6th dan) at his Urmston and Cheadle clubs, as well as training BJJ at Factory BJJ / Combat Base Stockport.

Judo for BJJ runs every Thursday from 6 – 7.15pm.

Sessions are £6 each or will be counted as one as part of your standing order deals.

Here is what Adam Adshead said about Mel:

“I’m really excited to have Mel teach a regular Judo for BJJ session for us at Factory,” he explained. “Mel is a very experienced Judoka and his eye for detail and his approach to learning and teaching Judo is top notch.”

“Although I‘ve only been working with Mel for a short time,” he continued. “I know that his knowledge and expertise is going to help everyone build a well-rounded, functional and extremely useful stand-up game.”

The session runs every Wednesday from 8.30 – 10pm. The class is split into 45 mins of conditioning and 45 mins of open mat (gi or no gi).

The first session was last week (January 5th) and everyone who came down had a lot of fun! The sessions are aimed at all fitness levels and are guaranteed to help your wider BJJ game.

Everyone is welcome to join in, not just those who train at the club and feel free to bring your partner, friends etc.

Sessions are £6 each or will be counted as one as part of your standing order deals.

Here is what Adam Adshead said about Mat:

“I’m really thrilled to have Mat teach a regular BJJ Conditioning session at Factory,” he explained. “Having trained with Mat on a 1-2-1 basis since early 2010, I can honestly say that he’s by far the best trainer I’ve worked with.”

“Mat‘s approach to understanding your goals and making sure you achieve them is his paramount aim,” he continued. “And I know bringing him in to coach a session at Factory is going to work wonders for all who attend.”

As you’ll see below, our Christmas timetable is full of sessions for one and all.

I don’t think there is anyone in BJJ would think Rom didn’t deserve his blue belt.

He has been working a super-technical and progressive game from early on and his promotion is a testament to that.

Whether rolling or drilling Rom is always first on the mat and last off, and his attitude and approach to training exemplifies the Factory BJJ way.

Talking about getting his blue belt, Rom admits he was shocked when Combat Base Belt Belt Helen Currie promoted him.

“I’ve got mixed reactions about it to be honest,” he said. “I was defiantly shocked, a bit nervous, knackered, honoured and happy! When I started training James Nardone and John Sherwood where blues so they really set the bench mark off what standard a Factory BJJ/Combat Base Stockport blue should be at so I know I’ve still got a lot of training to put in to get to that level.”

As for training, Rom admitted that he’s looking forward to taking his game to the next level.

“There’s defiantly no place I’d rather be than on that mats at Factory,” he explained. “Everyone I’ve met there are super top notch guys/girls and I can’t see how I could of improved any faster anywhere else.”

“I’ve defiantly learnt so much off the coaches and the other senior guys, they’ve given me so much advice and help on my game and it’s really appreciated,” he continued. “I hust hope I can do Factory BJJ /Combat Base proud and carry on improving and take it to the next level. Cheers guys for all your help!”
