Thanks for calling by to enquire about classes at Factory BJJ, sometimes it takes me a while to return calls because I’m teaching in the evening and at weekends and most people miss my calls when I call them back in the day.
So to speed up the process of getting you or your child on the mat doing some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, below is a quick FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to answer all of the most common questions I get asked.
Q. I’m an adult who wants to start BJJ, how do I go about it?
A. You will need to do our 5 Intro Classes first, these will give you an overview of all the basic positions in BJJ. All the info and timings can be found here.
Q. Do I need a gi to train?
A. Yes, the gi is an integral part of BJJ and we use it for chokes, throws, pins and almost everything else. Imagine going bike riding without a bike, you need a gi to train BJJ and all the info on our intro course that includes a gi can be found here.
Q. I can’t make the intro classes / would prefer private classes – what options do I have?
A. The intro classes are the foundation of a well rounded game in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. These topics can be delivered in private sessions but need to be booked around our busy timetable of classes (e.g Mon – Fri day times, after 3pm on a Saturday and Sunday mornings). If you want more info please drop us an email on Admin@FactoryBJJ.com.
Q. Can I come and watch a class?
A. Of course! We do ask that you book in as we have a limited seating area and are experiencing a lot of enquires about watching classes. Drop us an email on Admin@FactoryBJJ.com and we will book you in.
Q. My Child is between the ages of 2-5 years, what class can they do?
A. Book in for the Parent & Me Class every Saturday at 9am. You will join in too in a 30 minute session of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu games, drills and techniques. We offer a free taster session, all the info on booking this can be found here.
Q. My Child is between the ages of 6-10 years, what class can they do?
A. Book them in for the class for 6-10 year olds, which is every Saturday at 9.40am. We offer a free taster session, all the info on booking this can be found here.
Q. My Child is between the ages of 11-15 years, what class can they do?
A. Book them in for the class for 11-15 year olds, which is every Saturday at 10.35am. We offer a free taster session, all the info on booking this can be found here.
Q. Is it possible to watch my child in the kids class?
A. We operate a ‘Drop and Go’ system with the 6-10 and 11-15 year old classes, with no spectating. We will invite parents in for promitions and demonstration days throught the year – but sadly we don’t have the space for all the parents to watch hence the ‘Drop and Go’ system.
Q. I train at another club and would like to visit, is this possible?
A. Since we reopened in June 2021 the numbers have rocketed and we have a lot of classes selling out each week. This means we have to prioritise spaces for our regular monthly paying members and cannot accept drop ins or visitors currently. We have expansion plans for 2022 and will open up again to visitors at some point, but not at the moment sadly.
